Day 12: Adding color in unexpected places

It's fun to offer that unexpected accent of color in a surprising place. It can be very practical, or totally whimsical.  And there are endless places to throw in that splash of color. Here are some examples of where you can add a little paint that can bring in a big wow factor.

Leave no steps unturned! Here the steps become a painted focal point to enjoy as you go up and down- (did you notice the chandelier? Love it!)

Another area that is a big conversational piece is a painted floor, love the harlequin pattern below, (such a bold pattern in the black and white).

Something that you often wouldn't think of - painting your bath tub makes a really big splash- (pun totally intended)

Ceilings are also a good way to bring in some additional color, love how the white walls are off-set by the green ceiling (love the plates and lamp shade too).

Kitchen cabinets aren't usually the place where you want to go bold with color, but if you are daring, straying away from the norm and going with a color has a huge impact - these coral colored cabinets aren't for everyone, but they look great and are a good substitute to adding color to the walls.

Some of these ideas are a little risky and out of the box, but it's fun to have that unexpected surprise that creates a great conversational piece.
