stuck in neutrals?

bold colors from BHG
Ok, if you are one of those people who are afraid of color check out these rooms from BHG, they might change your mind a bit and inspire you to spice up your rooms.  Now I will warn you because some of these rooms are bold, but everything in moderation and taking baby steps are a good start. By adding some of these bold color and design ideas to your neutral rooms can make a big difference.

Sunday

first sightings of fall

velvet pumpkins
Ok - I have come to accept that summer is ending and I have to say now I have gotten a little excited.  Although I do love summer I always forget how much I really love fall. There is something about pumpkins and gourds, crisp air and the smell of burning leaves, that really make me happy.  While sneaking away to my most favorite place, what I call my own "peaceful escape," Terrain, (some of you may know that from previous posts), and sipping on an iced honey tea, I spotted glimpses of fall - pumpkins, gourds, grasses, and  mums!
I attempted to make my own velvet pumpkins last year, they turned out ok, when I pull out my fall decorations I will have to post how I made them. They look so pretty used as a centerpiece.

They had this table set up for what looked like a fall feast, I could have sat right down and eaten- they must have so much fun putting together all of their displays, they are like works of art.

I may have stayed there way too long but it's nice to have an escape every now and then.

Saturday

succulent wreath

succulent wreath BHG
How amazing is this wreath?  This is on the front door of a home tour from BHG, to see the rest of this coastal inspired home click here, it is really beautiful.  I think that I may save this for a project next year as sadly summer will be ending, but they have a great article on how to "dyi" in BHG, click here to see how to make one yourself.

selection of different types of succulents
The wreath looks like it would be so hard to do, but the step by step directions do make it appear much easier then the final product looks. Would love to hear if anyone has attempted this.  Although my succulents have been doing great in their pots all summer this seems to take it to a whole new level!

Friday

holding on to summer

Coastal Living
It has to happen sometime, the end of summer, I don't think that I am ready for it yet.  Here are some beautiful beach cottage home tours from Coastal Living that will keep you wishing that summer would last all year long!

Thursday

fabric reveal......

A while back I posted my Robert Allen fabric that I got at the fabric warehouse - well my panels are finally finished and I love them!  When I went back to get the liner, and to find some other fabric to coordinate with the fabric to make pillows, I found some great navy fringe for only $1 a yard. So I had the panels edged up the sides with the fringe and love the way they turned out.  I also found this great navy fabric with a "cane" pattern on it, a beautiful coral fabric (not in the pictures yet- there will be 4 pillows self-corded) and a fun cream fabric with some small dots of navy and lighter blue that I put on seats of 2 chairs.

I love the way the large floral fabric fills up the window in my living room and ties the room together.  The punch of the coral and the contrast of the navy against my white sofas add so much color. There was extra fringe so it was used around 2 of the floral pillows.

Now if I can just keep Hudson away from my pillows, he seems to have a thing for fabric!

Website

I finally got my website up and running, really don't know why it took me so long! You can check it out here  Thanks for checking ...
